Description

The course is designed to give you the skills to prepare for a job, writing creative advertising copy for Radio / TV (writing commercials). The course is much more than just theory, it’s a complete hands on experience to show you what works - and what doesn’t work – when it comes to writing effective and compelling radio commercials.

Aim

To gain the industry’s best skills and practice for a Radio / TV copywriters position – not just how to write radio / TV ads, but how to survive the day to day experience of writing at a fast paced radio / TV station.

  1. Be aware of the daily demands of a Radio / TV Copywriter
  2. Demonstrate writing simply, clearly and convincingly.
  3. Techniques for deciphering briefs.
  4. Strategies when working with sales representatives and production staff.
  5. Skills when dealing with clients.

To further help you get a foot in the door to your first copywriting position, the Course Director will, at no extra cost, offer you a FREE critique of any scripts you write after the course, and will produce them on a CD for you to keep, to submit with your application to a future employer.

Delivery

It will contain a combination of theory and practical sessions, with opportunities for group discussion and most importantly, it will be a whole lot of fun!

Assessment

You will be assessed on your ability to write Radio /TV scripts of a broadcast standard, and on your understanding of copywriting requirements in the Radio / TV industry, based on skills acquired from the curriculum presented over the weekend course.

Two day course run on a weekend schedule.

Numbers of participants

Classes are kept small on average 5-7 students. Enrol early to avoid disappointment.
